After building an extension to their home, a client was searching for a classic kitchen, but one with a contemporary feel.

Challenge

There was limited wall space for storage and the client wanted an extraction device for the cooker, however this could not go out through the wall.

In addition they needed a dining space that seated four people in what was a limited area.

Solution

With this in mind our designer, Katy, created a combination of a French Grey painted and American Walnut units to meet the classic need.

The contemporary feel was introduced through the Corian worktops which added the modern twist.

A downdraft extractor with an island created a minimalist look as it didn’t need wall mounting and storage space was created using a large walnut unit on the only area of wall available. More storage was devised within the island and under the worktops.

The all important seating area slotted in perfectly around the new design.

“I was particularly happy with my design of this project because the kitchen worked well with the whole room within the new extension. It gave the family enough space to entertain and also to live their days to day lives. I particularly remember the daughter skating around the kitchen island on her Heelies with the family dog following after her.”
