A modern home in Colchester, Essex required a large fitted bedroom for both practicality and style.
Challenge
Our client had a large bedroom that included a mismatch of furniture. Despite the size of the room, storage was lacking. The client wanted hanging space for clothes, a better solution for a dressing table and for all the furniture in the room to coordinate. The design needed to be modern, to fit with the age of the property, and be stylish in appearance to add some ‘wow factor’ to the bedroom.
Solution
Understanding that hanging space important to our client, we suggested Mereway’s fitted wardrobe furniture with double hanging space. We designed a large L-shaped set of wardrobes into the alcove of the room which included one double hanging, two single hanging and a corner unit wardrobe. We suggested modern doors painted in Mereway’s Mussel paint which created a subtle, contemporary finish.
The custom made dressing table creates a focal point for the room and is a practical replacement to the client’s old corner dressing table. With a fitted hair dryer on the side of the drawers hidden in the knee-space and an illuminated mirror for make-up, this dressing table is a far better solution for getting ready in the morning and evening. The floating glass shelves above the table provide additional storage.
The base units around the bed not only provide bedside table areas but additional storage for the client’s sports equipment.
The overall appearance of the room is far more organised, coordinated and looks clean and stylish. The space in the room is now far better used and so the new bedroom not only benefits the client aesthetically but practically.
“I enjoyed finding solutions for problems throughout this project. The new fitted furniture has been a real success in making this bedroom work for our client both in terms of appearance but also in how it can be used everyday.”
