KSL were set the challenge of merging the old with the new when a customer asked for a contemporary en-suite bathroom in a period Lavenham home.

Challenge

The bathroom needed to work with the property, which dates back to around the 17th century, so Katy set out to balance the traditional with the modern.

Solution

To keep in line with the customer’s vision for the home, and the new bathroom, a minimalist look with clean lines was created using false walls to hide pipes and cisterns.

To balance the new, the historic beams were retained and incorporated into the overhead design of the room.

“The customer I was working with on this project had great vision for her home. She was living in a very old property but wanted to create a highly modern look for her en-suite bathroom. Getting a balance of a contemporary bathroom scheme within a room with period features such as the original beams was a real challenge.”
