A stylish, traditionally English, kitchen design for a period property in Lavenham

Challenge

Our client was a very creative couple, they wanted a traditional in-frame kitchen that would create a warm homely environment.

Solution

We wanted to make the most of the existing Aga, and make it the feature of the room. We built two open dresser units either side and a mantle shelf on a custom-made boxing helped to frame the Aga and the striking cobalt blue added a splash of colour to the chalk white units used throughout.

A small ceramic hob, combination microwave oven & hidden extractor all from Neff created a secondary cooking area for summer months when the Aga would not be in use.

Stunning “Ice Blue” Sensa granite worktops and splashback gave the bold patterning they were trying to achieve.

We left the splashback behind the Aga free, enabling the client to add their own piece of original artwork, putting their own stamp on the room.

Karndean flooring from the Art Select Limestone range gave a warm, rustic feel with the benefit of a low maintenance surface.

“This was a challenging project, as we needed to get the balance of warmth, tradition and modernity right. The kitchen is a very inviting space and has delivered the mix of ‘English tradition’ with the client’s personality, as I hoped it would.”
