Owners of a modern detached property in Gestingthorpe, Essex wanted to refresh their bathroom to create a more up to date room.
Challenge
Our client’s bathroom had been installed 15 years ago and some recent repair work to the bathroom hadn’t been done correctly. At the same time as making good the repair work, our client wanted to upgrade the bathroom as it was beginning to look a bit tired and dated.
The client wanted to keep the layout of the existing room but replace the furniture to improve the room’s appearance.
Solution
The first change made was to replace the bath with a new Villeroy & Boch Oberon bath with a lacquered, hardwearing side panel. We updated the accessories including a Kudos folding bath screen. The bath screen can be used when showering but can be moved right back so it is less intrusive when in the bath. As the panel folds back in on the bath, any drips go into the bath rather than on the floor. We added a Keuco shower basket which is a good quality product and includes an integrated squeegee to make it easy to keep the shower clean.
The existing vanity unit was updated with a stylish Villeroy & Boch Subway 2.0 two drawer unit with a Hib illuminated mirror above. The WC is the matching Villeroy & Boch Subway close coupled toilet.
Our client had wanted to retain the tiling and flooring already in the bathroom. But as the furniture was altered it became clear that it replacing it would be a better solution and would also improve the overall design appearance of the room.
We suggested Karndean Opus wood effect flooring in ‘Grano’. The wall tiles are matt white Villeroy & Boch tiles from the White and Cream range which are set off nicely by a green/blue glass border tile.
The Zehnder Taurus magnetic heated towel rail is another addition to the room which not only makes the room look more contemporary but is practical as well. The rail can be moved around making drying and warming towels much easier.
