Steve Clarke’s favourite: Bora downdraught hob cooktop extractors
“Our customers are always very impressed when the see a demonstration of the Bora cooktop extractor. It really is quite amazing. With a built in extractor on the hob plate, cooking odours and vapours are drawn away directly from the pan before they reach the airspace around the person cooking. With living spaces becoming more and more open plan, effective extraction is more critical. There are also design benefits such as the clean lines that can be achieved by eliminating wall hung or ceiling extractors altogether. Forget about costly dedicated roof vents, and have the Bora extraction system installed in base units instead. Bora is the beginning of an extraction revolution!

Katy Pearson’s favourite: Vacuum drawers for sous-vide cooking
“I was first introduced to the sous-vide concept of cooking on a training day with colleagues. What I couldn’t believe is how easy it is for a vacuum drawer to enable you to prepare and cook food with the most incredible flavour and texture. All that is required is to vacuum seal your ingredients and place them in the vacuum drawer, leaving them to marinade before cooking gently on a low temperature. By vacuum sealing, the taste of the marinade is greatly intensified, since flavours do not oxidise. Instead, the herbs and spices remain in a very concentrated form and are permanently in direct contact with the food. This ensures that any moisture and flavour is fully absorbed into the food. The sous-vide technique via a vacuum drawer also produces particularly tender meat. This is because the meat is cooked very slowly at constantly low temperatures. Because the meat is sealed, it doesn’t dry out and is therefore extremely juicy and tender. A vacuum drawer enables you to create a fine-dining experience in your own home. I’d strongly recommend our customers to take a look.”

Rebecca Brown’s favourite: Miele ArtLine minimalist appliances
“Miele believe in clean lines and elegance and you can see both of these qualities in abundance in their new ArtLine appliance range. ArtLine is the first Designer range of built-in kitchen appliances that are completely flush and handleless. The appliances use gentle open Touch2Open and SoftOpen door opening technology. The effect of the handleless design is a pure, linear aesthetic that is in a class of its own. The range comes in Graphite grey, Brilliant white and Obsidian black all of which create quite a different look. My favourite is the white because of the brightening effect it injects into the room, plus the practical benefit of no fingerprint marks on the appliances to worry about!”

Richard Hibbert’s favourite: Siemens Studioline Wi-fi enabled appliances
“The new Studioline range from Siemens is really very clever. The combination of Wi-fi-enabled appliances and their Home Connect App offers exciting opportunities to make everyday life more efficient. The Wi-Fi enabled Siemens appliances, operated through the Home Connect App already allow you to do things like switch your cooker or washing machine on when you are out of the house. But now this technology connects your appliances with different partners. So for example, via Alexa, you can now control your coffee machine, oven and washing machine with your voice. With just one word, you can check the status of your laundry, preheat the oven, or get your favourite coffee. The list of additional options is endless but includes features like your favourite music turning on when dinner is ready, the light colour changing when your oven finishes preheating or receiving a push notification if the freezer door has been left open for too long. If you are into gadgets, I strongly suggest you investigate these opportunities further.”
